This upper bracket (SZ952000840) sits on top of the rear air spring and hands the load from the air bag into the chassis. When it lets go, the rear end drops on that corner and the bag starts to chafe against whatever is left, so it is worth replacing the moment you see a crack or a stretched bolt hole.
