Mixer truck is a special truck used to transport concrete for construction; Because of its shape, it is often called a snail car and an olive car. Such trucks are equipped with cylindrical mixing drums to carry the mixed concrete.

The mixing drum will always be kept rotating during transportation to ensure that the transported concrete will not solidify. After the concrete is transported, the interior of the mixing drum is usually flushed with water to prevent the residual concrete from hardening and occupying space, so that the volume of the mixing drum becomes less and less.

The concrete mixer truck is composed of an automobile chassis and a special device for concrete mixing and transportation. The chassis of the concrete mixer truck produced in China mostly adopts the class II general chassis provided by the vehicle manufacturer. Its special mechanism mainly includes power take-off, front and rear supports of mixing drum, reducer, hydraulic system, mixing drum, control mechanism, cleaning system, etc. The working principle is that the power of the automobile chassis is taken out through the power take-off device, and the variable pump of the hydraulic system is driven to convert the mechanical energy into hydraulic energy and transmit it to the quantitative motor. The motor then drives the reducer, and the reducer drives the mixing device to mix the concrete.

Mixer truck classification

According to the water content of concrete transported by the concrete mixer, there are three types of mixer trucks: wet type, dry type and semi dry type.

Wet material concrete mixer is mostly used in China. It can transport concrete produced by mixing plant (station) or aggregates (sand, gravel), cement and water mixed according to the proportion. During transportation, the wet material is slowly mixed continuously to prevent initial setting and segregation of concrete during transportation. However, the time from production to pouring of concrete shall not exceed 1.5h to avoid concrete setting. Therefore, in the case of long-distance transportation, dry materials and semi dry materials shall be transported by mixing trucks.

The dry aggregate mixer truck can directly load the dry aggregate and cement into the mixing drum of the truck according to the proportion, and mix the dry materials in the drum during the transportation. When the vehicle is about to arrive at the construction site or add water at the construction site to complete the concrete mixing.

The aggregate and cement in the concrete transported by the semi dry material mixer truck are also prepared according to the proportion, and contain a certain amount of water, but the water content cannot meet the pouring requirements. It is necessary to add water and mix at the construction site when the vehicle is about to reach the construction site or at the construction site.
