This X3000 8×4 super strengthen version is specified with an FHB400 retarder behind a 12JSD200T-B transmission and QH50 power take-off, so the truck can hold a descent on the retarder instead of cooking the service brakes.
Retarder, gearbox and PTOThe 12JSD200T-B is a twelve-speed transmission with a QH50 flange power take-off for tipping hydraulics and an FHB400 retarder on the input side. In practice: the driver selects a gear at the top of the descent, the retarder holds road speed, and the service brakes stay cold for the moment they are actually needed at the bottom.
