Xuanhua, Hebei Province, China — Zhangjiakou Xuanhua JK Drilling Machinery Co., Ltd. marks its 20th anniversary in 2025, celebrating a journey that began on August 1, 2005 in Xuanhua — a city long recognized as China's home of drilling rig manufacturing. What started as a specialized workshop has grown into a comprehensive enterprise employing over 300 people and producing more than 30 models of down-the-hole (DTH) drilling rigs for markets worldwide.
JK Drilling's product development traces a clear technical progression over two decades. The first-generation CL351, introduced in 2005, was a fully pneumatic crawler rig that established the company in the domestic market. By 2008, the second-generation JK358 series brought semi-hydraulic operation with diesel engine power options. The third generation, led by the JK590 series launched in 2012, reinforced chassis and mast structures while comprehensively upgrading hydraulic systems for improved penetration rates and reliability.
The fourth and current generation — represented by JK730, JK810, JK820, and JK830 series — represents a significant leap: automated rod handling, enclosed operator cabins with climate control, reverse cameras, boom angle monitoring, and remote control operation via 4G networks from distances of up to several dozen kilometers.

JK Drilling holds ISO 9001, ISO 14000, and ISO 18000 certifications. The company has been recognized as a Hebei Province High-Tech Enterprise, a Hebei Famous Trademark holder, and a provincial-level Specialized and Sophisticated enterprise with an accredited industrial R&D institution. Several dozen national patents covering key drilling technologies have been filed and granted over the years.
JK Drilling rigs currently operate in over 30 countries across Asia, Africa, South America, and CIS markets. Customer visits from the Philippines, South Africa, Mongolia, Malaysia, Chile, and Russia are regularly hosted at the Xuanhua factory. The company maintains a consistent presence at BICES Beijing, bauma CHINA Shanghai, Expomin Chile, and Moscow construction equipment exhibitions.
JK DTH rigs operate on the down-the-hole hammer principle: compressed air drives a piston inside the hammer, generating impact energy transmitted to the drill bit to fracture rock. The same compressed air flushes cuttings through the annular space, keeping the hole clean. Primary application areas include open-pit mining and quarrying, hydropower and dam construction, road and railway infrastructure, national defense engineering, and underwater rock drilling for harbor and waterway projects.
JK Drilling maintains a dedicated technical team and after-sales service network providing on-site commissioning, operator training (both classroom and hands-on), and spare parts supply. The company's partnership with Atlas Copco on the latest-generation integrated rigs further strengthens technical service capabilities for international customers.
As JK Drilling enters its third decade, the company continues investing in R&D for automated and remotely operated drilling solutions while expanding its global distributor and service partner network.
