Grain moves in bulk and arrives in bags, and the same truck usually has to do both within one season. That is a body question rather than a chassis question: the floor has to empty cleanly when the load is loose, and the sides have to open when the load is packed.
Bulk grainDry grain flows, and a smooth body floor with no ledges lets it run out of the tail without a man inside sweeping. The front lifting ram raises the body to an angle steep enough that the last of the load slides rather than sits — which matters, because grain left in the corners heats and spoils the next load.
