JK850 Geothermal Drilling Rig

Geothermal boreholes put two demands on a rig: depth and torque. The JK850 covers both. It is rated to 850 meters, which is deep enough for closed-loop heat exchange fields and for many production-scale geothermal projects. And with 34KN.m of rotary table torque, it keeps turning in the hard, abrasive formations that geothermal work usually hits.

Most of our geothermal customers run the electric motor version because drilling sites near buildings or urban areas often have power available, and the lower noise is a real advantage when work continues near residences. For remote sites, the 1513BZLD diesel version works just as well.

Straight holes matter

Geothermal loop installation depends on hole straightness, and the JK850's rigid mast and 4.5m feed stroke help keep the hole on line. The four-speed table lets the driller keep rotation moderate in broken ground, where aggressive speed tends to walk the bit off course.

The rig accepts standard drill pipe (219, 245, 273, 325mm round, or 141mm square / 89mm hex kelly) and 3m or 6m sections, so you can match the string to your project without special tooling.
