SHACMAN X3000 6x4 400HP Stake Side Lorry Truck, 8.8m Deck

Stake side trucks earn their keep on the loading method, not the spec sheet. If your cargo arrives by crane, by hand or by small forklift from the side, a box body slows the whole job down. This 8.8m stake side X3000 gives you 600mm drop panels on both sides, four pins each, and a flat 2.5m wide deck you can load from three directions.

We build this one for bagged cement, rebar bundles, timber, ceramic tiles on pallets, and farm produce moving out of collection points onto paved trunk roads. The deck floor is 4mm checked steel plate over cross members spaced for 32 ton distributed load. If your loads are concentrated, say steel coil or stone blocks, tell us and we will add local reinforcement under the contact area. Cheaper than repairing a dished deck later.

400HP with a 12-speed FAST box is more than this duty needs on paper. In practice the extra power matters on the two loaded climbs most buyers face: the quarry access road and the last stretch into a site. Drivers can hold a gear instead of splitting the box twice in 200 metres.

Practical Notes From The Yard

• Steel tank instead of aluminium on this build. It is 40 kg heavier and costs less, and on site work a steel tank takes a knock from a loader bucket without cracking.
• The tailgate hinges high so a crane sling passes through without fouling. Small thing, but crews notice it on the first shift.
• Panels come off in single sections. One person can drop a 2.2m panel alone, which matters when a load needs side access at the customer's yard and there is no second man around.
• Chassis is the standard X3000 ladder frame with riveted cross members. We do not stretch it for the 8.8m deck, so nothing about the frame is custom and parts stay standard.
• Lashing points: twelve welded D rings on the deck edge. If you need more, they can be added at build stage at low cost.
