Product Description

JK860 Crawler DTH Drill Rig

The JK860 is a crawler DTH drill rig we developed to fill the gap between our JK820 and JK930 models. It punches holes from 115mm up to 178mm in diameter, with a rated depth capacity of 30 meters. Most quarry operators run it around 20-25m for 140mm blast holes, and it handles that load comfortably.

Powertrain & Hydraulics

The powertrain uses a 132kW diesel engine driving a hydrostatic transmission. Nothing exotic here — just proven components that parts shops stock. Hydraulic pumps feed the rotation head, feed cylinders, and track drive motors through load-sensing circuits. At the front end, you get 3500 Nm of rotation torque at up to 80 rpm, with 25 kN of feed force pushing the hammer down and 40 kN pulling it back up when you hit a cavity.

Dust Control

For dust control we went with a wet collection system. Water gets injected at the drill point and pulled into a cyclone separator by a blower fan. It catches the fine stuff that dry collectors miss, which matters when you're drilling near the crusher or in countries with strict airborne silica rules.

Undercarriage & Mobility

The crawler undercarriage is 2800mm wide with triple-grouser steel tracks. Gradeability sits at 28 degrees, which covers most quarry benches and mine ramps. Travel speed is about 2.5 km/h on level ground — it's not fast but it doesn't need to be. The tracks are driven by independent hydraulic motors so the operator can counter-rotate for tight turns on narrow benches.

Compressor & Hammer Matching

Standard compressor match is a 16-22 m³/min, 1.0-2.5 MPa unit, and we recommend pairing it with a 4-inch or 5-inch DTH hammer depending on whether you're running 115mm bits or stepping up to 178mm. The drill pipe is 76mm or 89mm depending on depth requirements.

Controls & Operation

Controls are straightforward hydraulic levers with a simple gauge panel. No touchscreen to fail on a dusty quarry floor. Operators who have run our older rigs can climb onto a JK860 and start drilling within half a shift — the layout hasn't changed much because it works.

Maintenance

Maintenance access is decent. The engine bay opens from both sides. Grease points for the mast slides and rotation head are grouped on one side so you don't have to walk around the machine with a grease gun. Wear parts — track rollers, slide plates, mast bushings — are standard sizes that you can source outside our dealer network if needed.

Shipping & Setup

This rig ships as one unit on a flat rack container. Total weight is around 9 tons ready to work. Setup on site takes about half a day — level the machine, connect the compressor, fill the water tank, and you're drilling.

Model Comparison

What you get over the JK820: wider diameter range (178mm vs 165mm max), 30% more torque, and a larger air circuit that pairs with bigger hammers for faster penetration in hard granite and basalt. What the JK930 does better than this machine: deeper holes (40m+), heavier feed force for tough formations, and higher air volume capacity for 6-inch hammers.

For most mid-sized quarries running 140mm blast holes at 15m depth, the JK860 is the one we recommend. The JK820 works if budget is tight, and the JK930 makes sense if you're doing deep production drilling. This one sits where most jobs actually are.
