JK930 Heavy-Duty Crawler DTH Drill Rig

This is the biggest rig we build. If you're running a high-bench quarry or an open-pit mine where 200mm blast holes at 35-40m depth are the daily requirement, the JK930 is the machine for that job. It's not a lightweight — at 15 tons with a 3100mm track base, it sits solid on broken ground and doesn't dance around when the hammer's punching through a fracture zone.

Power Package

The engine is a 194kW inline-6 diesel running at 2200 rpm governed. It drives two separate hydraulic circuits — one for the track motors and mast functions, another dedicated to the rotation head. This split design means you don't lose rotation torque when tramming up a grade or adjusting the mast angle mid-hole. Air end is a two-stage screw compressor delivering 21-30 m³/min at up to 30 bar. At those pressures, a 6-inch DTH hammer in granite will pull 25-35 cm per minute depending on bit condition and ground, which is about as fast as you're going to move rock with a crawler rig of this class.

Rotation Head & Feed System

The rotation head puts out 5500 Nm of torque through a planetary gearbox with an internal spline drive. Feed force maxes at 40 kN on the downstroke and 65 kN on retraction. The extra pullback capacity matters more than you'd think — if you're 35 meters down in fractured basalt and the hole starts collapsing around the drill string, you need that reserve to get the pipe back out without losing tools. Feed rate is adjustable from zero to 1.2 m/s via a proportional valve on the operator's console.

Air & Flushing Circuit

The air circuit is rated for sustained 30 bar operation with a 30 m³/min ceiling. We run the flushing bypass separately from the hammer air feed so the operator can goose the flush pressure without affecting hammer performance. The onboard water injection pump feeds into the air stream at the swivel, and the cyclone separator handles the wet slurry before it hits the fan. In limestone quarries where silica dust is less of a concern, you can bypass the water and run dry with just the cyclone — the separator still knocks down about 85% of the coarse particulate.

Undercarriage

Track frames are 3100mm wide with 500mm triple-grouser pads. Each track has its own hydraulic drive motor with a planetary final drive, and the motors are cross-plumbed so you can counter-rotate for zero-radius turns on a bench. Gradeability is 25 degrees loaded, which covers practically every access ramp in a typical quarry. Undercarriage tension is hydraulic with a grease cylinder — no need for a track press on site. The track frames bolt to the main chassis, so if you wear out a set of idlers or rollers after a few seasons, you're not welding new brackets onto the frame.

Mast & Drill String Handling

The mast is a welded box-section design with bolt-on wear strips along the slide faces. It tilts 5 degrees forward and 90 degrees backward for horizontal tramming. A hydraulic cylinder handles mast raise/lower with a mechanical lock pin for transport. Drill pipe handling uses a carousel rack holding up to 6 rods (4m or 5m lengths depending on configuration), and the rod changer is semi-automatic — the operator aligns the carousel index and the gripper arm threads the next joint. It's not a fully hands-off system, but it beats having two men wrestling 89mm drill pipe on a windy bench.

Control Station

The operator sits in an enclosed ROPS/FOPS-certified cabin with heating and pressurization. All drilling functions run through pilot-operated hydraulic joysticks with adjustable sensitivity. There's a basic digital display showing depth, rate of penetration, rotation speed, air pressure, and engine vitals — no fancy CAN bus system, just standalone sensors wired to a central readout. The cabin pressurization keeps dust out, and the glass is tinted to handle a full day of direct sun on an open bench. Noise level inside the cabin sits around 78 dB with the engine at working RPM and the hammer running.

What This Rig Is Built For

The JK930 makes economic sense in operations where you're drilling 500-plus meters of blast hole per shift and downtime from an undersized rig costs real money. It's overkill for a small quarry doing 12-meter benches at 115mm. For that, the JK860 or JK820 will pay for themselves faster. But if you're feeding a crusher that chews through 2000 tons an hour and your drill-and-blast cycle is the bottleneck, this machine delivers the penetration rates and reliability to keep the shot schedule on track.

Common setups we see in the field: 5-inch hammer with 152mm bits for granite benches, 6-inch hammer with 178-210mm bits for limestone and medium-hard sedimentary formations. Pipe is 89mm for depths under 25m, 102mm when you need the extra stiffness beyond 30m. Compressor match is typically a 25-30 m³/min diesel portable running alongside or mounted on a separate trailer — the rig doesn't carry its own compressor.

Shipping & Assembly

The rig breaks down into two main loads for transport: the chassis/mast assembly on a flat rack, and the control cabin plus accessories in a 20-foot container or on a second flat rack. Total assembly on site is about a day with a crane and two technicians. The mast pins into position with four bolts and the hydraulic plumbing uses quick-connect fittings throughout, so there's no field welding or custom hose fabrication required.
